Lonely London Lad: Why People Like LLL's Music

LLL Double-CD Debut Album

"One day, I was checking my MySpace, and I noticed that an artist I had never heard of had added me: Lonely London Lad. Happy to have another friend (I don't have many), I readily clicked the "Accept" button before checking out the music page. Once I got to the page, I thought, 'This looks like it's really, really weird.' And I was right, but it wasn't weird in a bad way. The artist had a fairly unique sound, and by calling the music "fairly unique", I mean to call it "like nothing you've ever heard before".

I've only heard several songs, but they each have a slightly different effect on my mental state. "Buffalo Jump" has a strange, detached, mellow sound (as do a lot of the songs, but this one is especially prominent), which gives me kind of a lost feeling.

"Dark Gardens" has an amazing amount of emotion for a song that sounds so apathetic.

"Hypodermic Love" is a sort of psychedelic love song, which has an entirely indescribable sound; just think of tripping on acid, only minus the negative side effects.

"Dick and Jane", my favorite song so far, has a very clever set of lyrics as well as a gleefully sinister sound that makes it a winner in my book.

The music evokes in me the level of emotion that usually only goth rock brings up to the surface, except a different sort of emotion. LLL has clearly invented a new genre here, something a bit more emotional and a lot more creative than a lot of 2000's music. When I want to hear some emotional music with clever lyrics and an artistic edge, I know where I'm going to go."

"I would like to say that I personally like the LLL music for the 'aural soundscape' that it produces. There is so much there that adorns the background as well as the foreground. It's experimental (if you prefer that term) sound, although it does hearken back to older psychedelic days at times, has a new fresh 'acid trip' awaiting anyone who gives it a listen, so it is always up to date!

Sometimes, it brings to mind Nick Nicely, older Pink Floyd, Dukes of Stratosphear... but better! It truly does give me a whole different 'feel' after listening to it, as though I just caught a nice buzz without ingesting anything!

Kinda makes you think and look deep inside yourself. The words, the music... just absolutely brilliant.

I truly feel honored just to even be talking to you via this little e-mail, as you have no idea how many times I have played those tunes on your page repeatedly.

You are truly one of THE BEST things I have come across in YEARS,and I look forward to hearing much more from you. And,what the hell...if I don't win...you know I'll end up purchasing it anyway... but don't let that persuade you to toss mine aside!

I'd be honored and privileged to receive the autographed copy, and turn friends on to some real music around here, as it tends to be lacking in this part of the world(or at least in CNY,anyway). Thank you very much for the 'enlightenment'....the 'inner soul-searching'...and the pleasure of hearing your music. It truly is something special that EVERYONE should be turned on to."

-- Charlie M.

"Lonely London Lad's music is almost too good to describe. When I put in my earphones, turn on some LLL, and go on with my day, it truly makes that day a whole lot better. Every moment feels a bit more dramatic, every movement a bit more free.

LLL changes the way I go about life. Every strum of the guitar, every breath of the voice screams at me like a pleasure filled kiss, wishing me well. When I observe the artwork, every message of life is clearer than was before. From the 8th notes of "Dark Gardens" to the composing of "Dick And Jane", every piece of art and artwork swells my eardrums with happiness.

The music gives me a wide array of emotions. The echoes of the voice on "Hypodermic Love" give me a detached feel, away from pain and suffering, government and society. When I push play on "Buffalo Jump", I am on a trip through an anti-utopia, truly feeling a part of the mentioned "Desert". But when I listen to "Another Planet", I truly feel a part of another world, with its epic score, it is an adventure of large proportions.

Well, there are so many other things I could say about your music, but sadly, I cannot put too many of them into words, all of it pierces my brain with sound so beautiful, letters and punctuation cannot put how well this music has changed my life."

-- Evan W.

"The Reason I like LLL's Music... Well for starters your album has a very diverse catalog of genres. The songs are their own little stories, it's like listening to a book of short stories, all containg dark and twisted lyrics, lyrics from fantastical worlds, to lyrics of love and longing. The music is almost hard to describe with mere words, but it makes me want to jump up and dance around (and I don't dance). Listening to these songs is a wonderful experience; to be able to listen to music that has such wonderful elements all mixed into one gushing wave of insanity, makes me feel absolutely tickled."

-- Skyler S.

"I'm far from any sort of a musical genius but I know what I like. Your music reminds me of 50s rockabilly mixed with an 80s techno beat infused with a hippie beach bum vibe filled with foot tapping happiness. Run Dick, run and turn up the volume!!"

-- Lori S.

"People spend thousands of dollars looking for the ultimate stress reliever, when they should spend that money on your albums and fall into total bliss. Your music is like a rocket ship that takes me to a beautiful uncharted land that I love to discover and while I'm there all the drama and bullshit that piled up from the day is suddenly non-existent! That pretty well sums it up for me! :)"

-- Diana L.

"Well I just feel like telling you that Lonely London Lads Music Makes ME feel Like I'm NOT so Flippen Lonely...Like I am not alone out there...there is some sort of comfort to knowing that good tunes and wise cracks are a necessity in this day and age...without, I tend to feel Lonelier...LLL asked for my "friendship" On a social network and since I have him in my life I actually feel that as an artist he wants to entertain the likes of me and do it well...constantly asking what I think and so on...the contests make it fun to be apart of not being so ALONE

I have a very busy life and this was just what I needed THANK YOU LLL!!!!

Oh Lizzie...something wicked this way comes...could it be the cure for loneliness? ;D"

-- Veronica J.

"I lose myself in the music and discover an alter ego I've never known before. I become the epitome of eccentricity, a street soldier on London's cobblestone streets. Projected into the atmosphere then ride the ozone down through every stratosphere. The rhythm enters my head, pops n locks down my spine, to bring forth charisma and character to break down any barrier. Makes me feel like a part of something new, something fresh, something unable to be mis-construed. Keep vocally attacking, its what we need. Appreciate it."

-- Arnar B.

"1)I love LLL because their music makes me think and/or laugh and therefore it's a good antidote to most of the insipid tripe I hear on commercial radio. 2)LLL's sound makes me feel like I should go on living which is particularly helpful when I'm down with the flu and my sinuses have turned me into a raging snot-monster."

-- John S.

"The moment I laid eyes upon LLL's Myspace, clad in sassy colors and bright pictures, I fell in love. When I lay and shut my eyes, and turn on LLL, I want to make toast with butter. I want to order rainbow fishnets and wear them with glitzy platform disco shoes. I want to eat a block of sharp cheddar cheese. I want to smash a keyboard against the wall and watch the keys magically float out the window and reconstruct into a llama. I want to wear fifty necklaces at once. I want to dance around my house naked and scream when no one's home. I want to squirt my bottle of Mango Mandarin (delightful smell!) on the floor and jump in it. I want to sit and have a spot of tea with Robert and chat about buffalos. I want to touch an octopus. I want to listen to Lonely London Lad."

-- Asia C.

"The Lonely London Lad music has an enigmatic quality to it. We seem to be traveling on a musical and artistic journey with LLL, and as I listen to their music I am wondering what might be coming at me around the next corner as each song progresses. Clearly these fellows have a great talent for music and are willing to experiment."

-- John D.

"It's like a fun house with an octopus jail for the stiff assholes. and you eat chocolate jellyfish and run with jackalopes and ride on a half horse half man named Galiath who wears a purple top hat with a peacock feather sticking out. People live in mushroom houses and we are free with no power hungry lying government. There is no discrimination, people are purple blue yellow green red pink orange and there are no boundaries in life. There are no rules and laws that hold us back or lower our status. everyone loves one another. We dont live by a money system everything is free. the land we live on is prosperous with all we need and we take pride in caring for it. your music makes me think of crazy dreams that dont have to make sense, I enjoy that time and dont ask questions for what it means. your music is the trip that life should be. :]"

-- Lauren W.

"i love lll's music because it is completely different from the mainstream. you get so tired of all the different bands sounding exactly alike. this music makes me feel calm and mellow, happy and chaotic... all at once. it's something i can sit and smoke and just think about life to, but it's also something i can drink all night and party my world away to. it's a gutsy sound that just... works."

-- Carrie C.

"It sounds like a new dimension but still vintage. It's ridiculously amazing. It makes me feel as if I belong in a graveyard filled with hopeless souls that need to be heard. :)"

-- Leah T.

-- Ari

"There's a point where you think you've heard it before? OR perhaps you've been waiting for these sounds. The softened back round music that plays in your dreams,..setting would be like a dejavu experience with a really kick ass laser show that pops like fireworks with every rhythm rang. Your excitement spikes with a single note; then you start jumping around with your head bobbing in a whirl,.. and then you realize,..I'm in the car??? "

-- Jenn P.

"This is the first time that I have ever heard Lonely London Lad's music, but it sounds very fantastic and creative!!!! There needs to be more creativity and experimentation these days in music instead of these cookie-cutter radio songs that are completely labotomized, have bad singing in them, and/or have ridculous and stupid lyrics. Keep up the good work, boyzzzz. ;-)"

-- Mark V.

"I like your music because it's very unique and weird. And i like that kind of music. It makes me think... and i feel like i'm in the music in another world when i listen to it. Keep being weird it seems to work for you..lol"

-- Strawberry S.

"Lonely London Lad music makes me feel as if I I'm submerged in a music cloud that brings me sounds that sooth my soul, and presents me a sound quality that is unimaginably not-compared to any other musical human being out alive in this world. It makes me feel that there is actually some musical legends out in this small, small world. Such as yourself. So thanks for sharing the world your special gift, and I know you will be known as one of those musicians who changed the world, musically."

-- Chase B.

"i love it cause its upbeat. it makes me feel cooky fun and full of life"

-- Brhea U.

"i like the music because

it makes me feel each note from the
top
top
top
of my head to the tip tip tips of me toes
like flying through a desert where notes cant be heard
but only vibrated across your skin
like electrical pulses
pulsing pulsing pulsing out your finger tips"

-- Lorraine C.

"Lonely London Lad is absolutely superb. I enjoy listening to LLL specifically for the splendor and beauty of the melodies. Non-specifically for the general feeling of really wanting to be on lsd the songs invoke in me."

-- Megan H.

"I feel perplexed by the enigma that is your music. My tympanic membranes are humbled by its melodic mysteries."

-- Kay F.

"I have just listened to bits and pieces of you and I am writing to tell you how much I loved what I heard. I would love to have the album. It has a nice groove going most of the time. I especially loved that all your songs are different, not like so many others who release 10 tracks of the same basic song. I enjoy the variety you offer plus I also like the way you feel your way through each song, some things are constant .. almost a signature, but the songs aren't alike, just the feel.

I can't wait to see how you grow and develop even more. You seem to have quite a beatiful and intense connection with the songs you perform. Whan I listen to you, I feel at peace somehow, though it grooves on down the highway. Draws me to it greatly."

-- Maria C.

"It takes my mind away from the troubles that it endures."

-- Larry H.
